Default funny 408 oil pressure

i have about 5500 miles on 408. i just recently changed the cylinder heads after the rocker on number 7 was ripped clean out of the head. Now the engine oil pressure seems to be a little low for my blood. i went with the new l92/l76 package and that is all that was changed and nothing else was taken apart.

oil pressure at idle:
cold: 60psi
hot:25-35psi usually about 30

the pressure at idle is not the funny part, when ever you give the engine a little the pressure doesnt climb then all of a sudden the gauge catches up. like say if you were cruising down the street in 4th at 2000rpm the guage reads about 42-45 psi and as soon as you take your foot off the guage jumps a min of 5 psi.

could this be that the bearings are worn out already, the drain plug usually looks like a fuzz ball and the oil gets dark awfully quick (300-400 miles).

and there are no funny noises coming from the engine except for the forged piston knock for like 30 seconds on cold start, some one please give me a starting point.

Cut the filter open and look for brass metal shaving that will tell if your eating a bearing (most likely a main) and that would be your oil pressure problem.

yeah im gonna have to do that again, i did it last oil change and there was nothing there.

the situation took a turn for the worse today, i was driving home and the oil pressure at idle was just a tad over 20 psi, and cruising at about 2300 it was just under the 40 psi mark.

i definatly think its time for a new set of bearings which is really gonna suck. if anyone else can think of something else please let me know!!!!

doesn't sound bad. If it goes below 10, I'd start worrying.
