MTI B1 cam >>
hello, is the MTI B1 a good cam that i could use on my SS as my daily driver, with my stock heads, stock monifolds and the mods listed below. Then use the MTI Valvetrain cam kit, but are the manley srpings that come with it be any good? thanks I have heard alot of good things about MTI and there cams and i think that this cam would be a good addition to my dailydriver, thanks!

Well, unfortunately I can't tell you about stock heads and stock manifolds, but I like the cam. I actually get better gas mileage than with my stock set up. My car was running pig rich stock, and after the cam it was even worse. The LS1 edit performed by a local shop picked me up 30 RWHP and 30 RWTQ. I would say that without the heads and headers I would be around 370-380.
It is very driveable and has a nice rump to it at idle.
I am using the manley springs and the shop that put in my cam said that it is the quietest valvetrain noise that he has heard with a after-market set up.
Hopefully this helps.

I like(d) my B1. Was an excellent daily driver cam for me. Stock heads here. Put down 354 RWHP, ran 11.96 @ 116 with my 6-speed. I did do some mild tuning, but there were no problems. 800 RPM idle. Heck, I don't think I even drilled my TB.
I have headers now, but when I first installed the cam, I still had the stock exhaust (manifolds and muffler). You really couldn't tell the cam was there, but you could feel a nice gain in power. It really woke up with the headers and the 4.10's tho.
Im now in the process of stepping up to a much larger cam.

I have a B1 cam sitting in my closet and was thinking of installing it. Right now I have a CC 216/220, .525/532 camshaft with ported stock heads. I was wondering if the B1 cam will be good enough for the heads I have now or should I go with S1 or S2 heads.

I like my B1 cam It idle's great and has a nice lope to it but I do have LT's and I went with the Isky 295-d springs instead. It's a great driving cam and I'm just finishing up on a stage 2 head install to go with it this year.

That cam should be ok with stock manifolds. Its not exactly ideal, but should still produce decent results. I have a TR220 with stock manifolds (changing soon), and it produced nice gains. You should just be able to use Comp 918 springs. No reason to spend that much money on Manley springs for a .558" lift cam, IMO. I'd get upgraded pushrods also.

Hi
B1 is a good chooce and there're many cam's for a daily drive, i saw your sig and you have A4, the best lobe for A4 is 114 especailly for daily drive.
This's some good addition for daily driver:
- 224/224" .561/561 114 LSA
- 224/224" .586/586" 114 LSA
- 220/220" .553/553 114 LSA
- 218/221" .526/534 114 LSA
- 222/222" .566 .566 114 LSA
Note: befor the install check your pushrods, Lifters and timingchain to be in safe side!
Good luck
