What internals to go with?
I have a questino and need some advice. im not to sure whats the best bang for the buck when it comes to pistons and rods. Im building a motor a 347 and im going to put setting it up for 150 shot nitrous and wanted some opinions about internals. I was wondering if I could slip by with some stock rods with arp bolts and slap some forged pistons in there? Any help would be greatly apprieated.
setup:
LS6 cam
LS6 heads from patriot with 59cc chamber
LS6 manifold
30 pound injectors
LS4 oil pump
LS2 timing chain
Tnt Nitrous kit
LS1 block
Stock crank
Stock rods (maybe forged)
Forged pistons
all arp

if your setting your motor up with 150 shot then your not going to need to do internals. there are people on here running 150 (including me) and others running more than 150 and havent touched their internals. unless your going with a 200 shot or more i really wouldnt worry about it

you could go something like this
Mahle 3.905"/flat-top pistons and rings, $500
Callies CompStar 6.125" rods $600
Callies main caps $550
ARP main studs $300
ARP head studs $220
Ported LS6 oil pump $150
LS7 lifters $150
Rod/main/cam bearings $250

Go much bigger on the cam. You can go bigger but still have stock like idle and drivability and even emissions. Or just go bigger and let teh world know youre cammed.
Go bigger on the injectors, especially if youre doing a dry shot. I dont know what kind of kit youre looking at, but its probably a wet shot. Stil for the price, why not have the extra injector there incase you need it.
I would forge the rods too. I believe scat and maybe some others have very affordable rods. Theyll include rod bolts too so you can spin 7k+.
Consider a melling oil pump or ported LS6 pump. I have been informed ls4 pumps may have issues.
You probably dont need aftermarket main caps or ARP hardware as long as youre not going crazy on the juice. But they are nice to have and theres nothing saying you cant get them.
