Those heads cost a lot more! Looks like they're based off the Edelbrock castings. I wonder if they flow that much better to warrant an $700 premium. Any dyno/track numbers compared to the 5.3L heads?

What sort of bolt-ons did they include? How do you like the torquer v3? What kind of power increase did you see?

Default goals

I'd specifically love to see some dyno numbers/graphs and/or track times from some of you guys running these heads and similarly aggressive cams!

* Hopefully over 450hp/425tq at the rear wheels and hopefully very low 12's or high 11's in the 1320 *

What would be the difference between the stock compression ratio of 10.1:1 to going to a 10.75:1? It doesn't seem like a big change.

This is taken from Texas Speed's site:

What ever you do, check first the chamber size, whether the heads are port matched to your LS6 intake etc.

From experience you will be far better of with a real good set of 5.7 heads, you get what you pay for. These cheap heads are just that.

Go with MS3 and the PRC 5.3 Heads this combo is the best combo or go with
Torquer 3.
T-rex ,MS4 and the Hellion Great cams but you need to flycut the pistons with 5.3 heads cuz the 63cc
I would talk to Jason or Trevor at TSP they will help you alot.

Will do. I remember reading about flycutting the pistons for the magic stick 4. I guess that pretty much eliminates those cams. Not entirely sure, but I don't think I would want to flycut the pistons.

What would you suggest? Someone recommended Total Engine Airflow (TEA) Trick Flow heads, but they start at $2400 instead of $1200. That's double the price . I remember a few years back that everyone highly recommended Air Flow Research (AFR) heads. They are around $2300-2400 as well. Thanks for the help.

P.S. Someone local is running LS6 heads. Not sure if this is what you're referring to? Stage 2.5 LS6 heads from Texas Speed run a little higher at $1450. These have similar flow numbers to the 5.3L stage 2.5 heads. Then there is also the 200cc terminator heads from Texas Speed which start at $1675 and go up to $1900 depending on what springs you order them with. I would still like to see dyno numbers/graphs and track times from some of these heads/cam combinations. Thanks guys.

The PRC 5.3 Stage 2.5 heads from TSP are proven performers. Sure, you can buy a better head, but the solid gains they've been showing (just search the dyno forum) and the low price makes them a great bang for the buck set of heads.

If they wouldn't have been on back order when I had to do my heads, I'd be running the PRC 5.3 Stage 2.5's right now.

I run the stage 2.5 5.3l heads with a tr224/112cam ,ported fast 90/90 and put down 417rwhp 407rwt in an A4. When i was just cammed with a ls6intake i put down 350rwhp.I gained 67rwhp with those heads and a ported fast with my A4.I dont have track numbers yet though, but hope this gives you an Idea of what to expect

Thanks for the numbers I will most likely be running a larger cam in the neighborhood of 230+/230+ so I will hopefully see mid-400rwhp/rwt

Anyone have the flow numbers for the 2.5 5.3l heads? I've seen the intake numbers on their web sit. Interested in the .200 intake number and exhaust numbers.

All these heads will give you power gains, some are just that much better re the price tag, old adage, you get what you pay for.

How much more power will AFR/Patriot/TEA heads net you over the stage 2.5 5.3L heads. They are half the price and still result in 50rwhp gains. Are the additional gains for paying $2400 for a set of heads ($1200 extra) really worth it? I'm not trying to be sarcastic either. I would truly like to know how much more hp/tq AFR/TEA/Patriot heads make over the PRC 5.3L stage 2.5 heads.

I'd call Jon at Texas Speed. He is very pleasant to deal with.
