Default Melling oil pump users please come in!

I just stoped by speedinc and bought a melling oil pump, and Frazier said it is better than an LS6 pump. What do you melling users think? and any advice before my cam install? All advice will be very appreciated!

Sorry, Moderators if this is the wrong section please move it!
Thanks

i don`t think you can use it with a dual roller chain with out modding the front cover.

To use this pump with a double roller the pump front cover will have to be milled. And the front cover miled also. Or grind away! The pumps are very well built and perform well. We beat on our motors and run them hard and the oil pressure stays steady. With this pump you will want to run some extra oil because this pump can pump your oil sump out.

I have the LS2 chain and Melling. Using the lower pressure spring I see 60psi at cold idle, 45psi at warm/hot idle. Under WOT I see 75psi. 0w-30 but going back to 5w-30 M1. I was told to change out the spring when I first got the pump. Good luck.

I was told to take out the red high pressure spring, and use the blue low pressure spring. don't let "low" pressure fool you, it still pulls 45psi at idle, and I hit 75psi at WOT up near 6k the other day. I recommend it because... I searched and asked people the same question and they told me to just change it out Wish I had a more USEFUL answer.

Running a Rollmaster double roller and a Melling pump. No machining necessary and the shims were used.

I likewise switched out the red for the blue spring. Runs 40-45 warm. As long as I have at least 5 qts. in the motor it holds pressure pretty good. Get any lower than that and it will start sucking the pan dry at high RPM's.

do a search on my name, you will get any answer you want to your questions. heres a few.

1. this pump will fit with any dbl. roller timng sets with no mods to front timing cover, expect on a '98 i worked on once.
2. pressure, expect 45psi+ w/blue or red spring installed. 65psi+WOT (blue spring is the prffered one to be installed)
3. no more additional oil is required in the oil pan with this pump.
4. you will not suck the pan dry with this pump under normal driving and WOT conditions. DON'T ATTEMPT TO DO LONG HIGH SPEED RUNS, AND BE LOW ON OIL THOUGH!

Last call I don't know what the problem is but I too have an LS2 chain and the mechanic at the pontiac dealer ship said the sprockets are on right and the chain is rubbing on the pump!! he also has a melling and has never experienced anything like it!! he says he doesn't want to shim it. do you guys think I got a bad pump?
what gives? I got it at speedinc !
