Default 100,000 + Miles on the Old LS1

Well I have a 98 Z28 with over a 100,000 miles on it. I did a compression test not to long ago and every Cyl was Good . I put Nitrous on the car when it had 40,000 on it and have many runs too. I think I have been lucky but I think these Engines are a lot stronger then people thought . The only problem I had with the car has been; Fuel Pump went out on it, Tranny wouldnt shift right"Speed Sensor". Stupid Mechanic replaced the whole Tranny. What a Tard. Anyways I was wondering when I change my cam, what else should I change?

I had 203,000 miles on my former ride, an '85 IROC-Z Camaro when I sold it and it was still running strong. I think you should replace your lifters, push-rods, springs and get some roller tipped rockers. An ASP pulley with a new bolt and belt of course and maybe a new high-output oil pump and water pump since you will have those items off anyway. Would also be a good time for an LS6 intake.

Nice to see we got a few out there running strong...

I would defiently upgrade the pushrods, lifters, retainers, etc...the rocker arms aren't a must, I could check them over, if you are looking to spend a little extra get a set of the 1.8 rockers...

Dont forget the timing chain also- Get a double roller unit. Probably want to replace the oil pump as well, they were known to take a crap in the earlier year cars('98-'99). I think these are great engines.

I am starting to think that the '98-00 engines were stronger than the '01 +, they seem to take more abuse. Fireball also had a cammed '99 with N20 and he beat the living snot out if it for about 70K miles. Pretty amazing to me.
