I don't think you would need to replace anything but you could look at upgrading your springs and maybe a tune. What are any planned future upgrades? What year car is this for?

2001 ss....im trying to retain drivabilty...and the z06 seems to me as it is in a street car the best thing for what i want

i def. plan on getting a tune, but i want to get the z06 heads and cams....and i found a pretty good deal on the cam....

so is it "plug and play" type mod? can i just put the new cam in and be fine? or do i have to change anything else?

01 Z06 cam is interchangeable with your stock 241 heads if you are doing the cam before the heads, '02+ you will need longer push rods cause the cam base is smaller, 7.450 is the length, all this is if you are doing the swap before the heads. Also you will need new springs to handle the increased lift of the Z06 cam
01 = .525 lift
02+ = .551 lift

if you are doing heads and cam at same time then you should have no probs cause the 01 heads have the blue springs for the .525 lift and the 02+ have the yellow springs for the .551 lift and the 02+ heads have the longer valves to accomodate the smaller cam base of the 02+ cam
hope this helps!

just have to replace the springs for the '01 which is pretty easy, the stock 01 f-bod cam has low lift .467 int./.479 exh, the '01 Z06 cam has .525 for both int./exh.

try out patriot peformance and get their patriot gold springs, they are good to .650 lift so you will never have any problems with them and you will never have to buy new ones and they give you alot of options for diff cams

I have done several cars with the zo6 cams but the 2002 cam has more lift and will make more power. The one I have done I just ran comp cams 918 springs and tryed the 7.45 push rods and got to checking back lash and decided to try 7.40 wich is the right size if you ever upgade to aftermaket cam. The ZO6 cams dont like as much timing in the computer and you have to be willing to go with a gear and rev to 6500RPM. I need to metion that the 7.40 push rods will make your valve train a little louder but the LS1 style motors are noisy anyway. Good Luck

hello, i dropped in the 2002 z06 cam. 550 lift, 204/218 duration 117.5 lsa. drivabillity is great, idles at 600 / 700 rpm smooth as a babys butt. however DOES NOT provide big rwhp numbers. i would go with a slightly bigger cam. ls6 cam idles so smooth you cant even tell theres a different cam inside. i have ls6 springs and wish i would have put in better springs in case i decide to go with a bigger cam. texas speed is a ls1 tech sponser that offers ls6 cast# 243 heads for a good price. i went with the budget stage one heads for $900 and i'm happy with them. good luck on your decision.
