WTF Got P0343 code on friends ZO6 (2003), cam sprocket bolts loose & NO dowel-pin???

Got P0343 code on buddies ZO6 (2003), cam sprocket bolts backed out... All three were loose. BUT get this there was no locating dowel-pin in the cam!!!

Did the 2003 ZO6s not have a cam dowel-pin??? (all factory internals...)

Not the first time I have read about this. Someone on CF had this happen right after a Maggie install, low mileage car too. Pin might be in the oil pan, does he have a magnetic plug?
