Default H/C and other stuff install in progress

well, after waiting almost a year to get everything, given a set back from the previous set of heads i had, actually, a bad experience, and literally given them away, i finally am in the process of installing all the goodies in the car!!

actually, i started last sunday, and worked for 10hrs, and got as far as removing the heads and water pump. of course, everything that needed to come off to get there, is off.

i am stuck at the crank bolt! man! what a PITA!! i even tried a 135psi compressor, then a 24" breaker bar. well, hopefully, tomorrow i will try a much bigger compressor. if i can get this done, everything is easy, i hope.

my LS6 ported intake and oil pump arrived friday, and i have everything else ready to go.

i should probably take some pics.

mods are in my sig under going in.

oh! what kind of #s you think i might get?

That crank bolt is a tough one... just a note, when it finally DOES give, it will probably feel that you broke it off in the crank, at least that's what it felt like on my car. I used a 1/2" drive 250 ft-lb torque wrench and just pulled with absolutely everything I had, and it broke loose. What are the specs on the street sweeper-high torque? That's a cam from Ed at Flowtech, right

especially the feel after you break it loose. i don't to freak out
b/c i thought i busted the damn thing! LOL

i will check my torque wrench to see if it is a 250ft-lb.
i did get a 24" breaker bar, but no luck with it.

yes, it is an Ed Curtis, FTI cam!

Yea my torque wrench was over 24" to begin with so it worked out nicely. Thats a nice looking cam! Should put down some real healthy numbers, especially with the 62cc and thinner HG!

well, my friend never showed up with the big compressor.
so, i will see if i can get the pipe to slide on the breaker bar.

thanks on the cam!
i did soooo much research, and got an xe-r same duration, but after doing some math, and some projections, i wished someone made the same duration cam, but with more lift, but not too much beyond .600. then, voila! i came across Ed's cam!
and the heads, well, they came 63.5cc, so i took them to get milled to exactly 62cc. that's what Ed recommended, and the cometic .040".

i am hoping for the best.

thanks!

Yeah if you can get a long enough pipe to fit it should break off anything. Or go to sears and get one of those 700lb impact wrenches.

ok! guys!

feel free to start laughing!
it all started b/c of the horror stories i read about the crank bolt.

i went to home depot to buy a pipe, was then looking at 240 ftlb torque wrench, then i thought of going home to get the breaker to bring to home depot to fit the pipe.

well, i get home, check my torque wrench for size and know how much torque. it is only a 150ft-lbs. without thinking, i put the 3" extension and the socket, put it on the bolt, tried, nada, then got a better angle, and...BAM!!! it broke loose with only 2 tries!! then, easily by hand!!! LOL

so, off i go to get done as much as i can, so that i can get close finishing.

yeah! go ahead, laugh!! i am!

before i realized you had the powerbond (tired from work lol) i thought you were trying to reuse it, and was going to offer you mine since it is coming off.
but, then, i realized you a powerbond man!

i got good and bad news.

bad-i got the oil pump pick up tube bolt on the wrong side! i got lucky getting it out though. don't know how lucky i will get when putting back in.

good-the Rollmaster crank sprocket when in very easily w/out having to heat it up. i mean, eaily, it smacks the base.

got lifters out, and they seem to have some kind of sandy stuff on them. i wonder if it is just dust from being exposed for a week.

saturday-oil pump (wish me luck), cam, degree it, lifters, heads, check length of pushrods, and try to finish up then, if not, sunday.

not in a hurry anymore, just want to do things right.
