Default Help me build my longblock

I'm buying back my Camaro from a friend and right now the motor is no good. There's metal shavings in the oil. I plan on putting a 346ish longblock in it. I want a daily driver that puts about 430 to the wheels. Probably around a 224 cam and some stage 2 heads. Anyway...I'm trying to decide between Speedinc and Texas Speeds 348s.

TSP $5899
347 LS6 block
Factory crank
Scat H beam 6.125
ARP 8740 rod bolts
Mahle Flat tops -4cc
PRC stage II cylinder heads(2.04"/1.57" valves, single valve springs)
TSP custom-grind camshaft
Rollmaster timing set
Comp Cams 850-16 roller lifters
Hardened pushrods
GM head bolts and gaskets.

SpeedInc $5499
Polished& refinished factory LS1 crankshaft
Billet 6.125” connecting rods
Diamond Flat top Piston w/2cc reliefs or -8.6cc Boost pistons
Diamond Pro-select rings
High performance bearings
All Gaskets, seals and hardware for short block
Fully balanced/blueprinted/Finish hone w/torque plate, assembled
RGR or Patriot Heads
Custom Comp Cams Roller camshaft
Comp Cams Lifters
Felpro Head gasket/bolt set
Double roller timing chain
SLP blueprinted oil pump

Would you recommend upgrading to ARP main stud kit or the Crankshaft or pistons? I would think these setups would be fine for the small hp numbers I am aiming for.

Thanks for your help- Jeremiah

TSP seems to have nicer pushrods and rod bolts but that's the only difference I notice. And the brands of the heads.

if you want 430ish its not going to be an awesome dd. i say get a 408 (more cubes will bring more power and make driveability better with bigger heads/cam) and then go with a mild heads and cam set up. for cam i thinking like a 228. but yeah i say get more cues on your side youll have more to work with

If all your looking for is 430rw I wouldnt even bother on a forged motor, let alone the ARP bits. That amount of power can be had with 5.3 heads, decent compression and a low 220's cam (assuming you have all the other bolt ons)

430rwhp may sound good now, but let him drive it for a while. We always want more, don't we? I say build it as strong as you can, so you can always go up in power on it.

hehehe i agree... How about a nice 408 instead that makes around 480-500 rwhp. Texas-speed has one with stage 3 heads. What cam on a 408 would idle equivalent to a 224 cam in a 346 CI motor? Also for a 408 would you recommend atleast an upgrade to a dragonslayer crank?

LME makes very good short and longblocks. weve been very satisfied with all of our purchases with them.
