Head ?

Is the 243 head better than any stock LS1 head hands down or are 853 close? Can someone give me like a top 5 list of best stock heads in order? Thanks

The 243 Heads are the LS6 Z06, and the LS2 Heads.
I believe the 853's are Truck Heads..I could be wrong..

i think the 243 heads are 10-15 rwhp better than 241 or similar heads, well going from what i have heard from on here anyways.

853's are 98-00 castings for f-bodies. 317's are 6.0 liter heads. these are the truck heads.

The 241 and 853 heads are off LS1 engines. The 241 heads were cast with a different process than the 853 heads and resulted in better airflo, but only slightly.

The 243 heads are off the LS6 and LS2. The have a better short turn to them so they have been able to make more power than the LS1 heads.

The 317 heads were from LQ9/LQ4 engines. They had the better port like the 243 heads, but larger chambers which are ideal for low compression.

Then there are the 4.8/5.3 heads. The port isn't that great, but they have smaller chambers for a bump in compression.
