In reality to make a stock car run faster times you should modify your list more like this:

1) Stall converter & TRANNY COOLER
2) Trans-go Shift kit
3) Suspension, suspension, suspension!!!
-adj. shocks, rear springs & air bag, LCA's,TQ arm, subframe connectors,
-larger rear sway bar w/poly bushings
4) Exhaust system--headers,y-pipe, & cat back
5) Then engine mods

This is by no means "The List to Follow for Modifying", but it will usually beat 90% of the "modified" cars out there on the street and at the strip.
