Default cam and gas mileage

I'm looking into getting a cam soon, but do not want to hurt gas mileage too much. I drive a 650 mile trip about twice a month is the reason i say this. I dont not want too big of a cam just some more power. Was looking at something aroud 224 or 228. I do not want anything too drastic. Thanks.

so why waste the time ? go for TR224 114lsa

plus it all depends on the tuner, find a good one and you will have no gas mileage issue

i tried that cam my self before and my ride a daily driven car and didnt has any gas issues.

and about the power ? the tr224 is one of the strongest cams on the street it had

a strong power all over the rpm and i saw cars dyno only cam mods with headers

and stock cats and A4 put 360hp . i put 390hp with bolts on then i put 410hp with

heads.

that was my best choice so why dont you go for a visit to THUNDER RACING.COM

and see by your self. glad to help

good luck

exactly as donaimian said ,its proven and you have alot of choices beside TR224

there is MTI 220
comp 220-220
comp 216-220
crane cams 220-220
crane cams 224-224
and also speedinc has alot of cams choices
and still too many to list in here looool.
i preffer for street use a wider LSA like 114 and above 115*116..etc

Ive ran the 221/221 in my car to great success. Laid down a solid 400/395. Drove great, and had a friendly powerband.

was that just with full bolt on's and cam only? pretty impressive I haven't seen the 224's put out that much.

Full bolt ons and AL flywheel (altho I think the gains from that were negatated by the steel driveshaft). Theres another member on here with the same cam on a 114 thats making 392. The small cams are proven to make power, its just that they dont make the peak numbers or have the sound of the big cams.

Get a cam that will operate its valves to put your DCR at low to mid 8.x range. That will help economy as well as power by raising cranking compression.

Personally Id go 224/228 next time. Get yourself into the 0.58x+ lift range too if you can. Maybe 114* LSA to reduce overlap.
