Default ls1 valve in ls6 head?

is that doable?

I have an aftermarket cam and am wanting to put my ls6 heads on but I was wondering if I could re-use my stock ls1 valves and 7.4 TR pushrods on the LS6 head.

thanks for all the help

Pretty sure that they will work. The only difference, if I'm not mistaken, is that the '02 - '04 ZO6 LS6 head had the sodium filled exhaust valve while the '01 ZO6 head and the LS2 heads, all 243 castings did not. Hope this helps!

Yes same stem size but length may vary (aftermarket)
Also you need a valvejob on any new valve you put in, even used.
And with stock seats no bigger than 2.02 intake and 1.57 exhaust

I was planning on moving my current ls1 valves into the ls6 head....is the valve job really necessary?

how much is a valvejob?

It's may not be necessary, but definetly worth it. You could lose alot of power if the valves don't seal very well.

FYI, I just got a set of stock 853 heads from a guy and all but a few valves were bent. This was with a stock cam, valvetrain, and stock rev limiter. The stems were OK, but the valves' heads were tuliped. It wasn't bad enough to keep from getting a concentric seat cut into them, but a clean backcut was out of the question. At the very least, get a valvejob and have the valves lapped.

YES it is necessary, why take a shortcut on something like this. That would be stupid IMO.
