Default what cam?

I'm tryin to do a little ahead of time research. What cam will give me decent power, but not completely kill my mileage?

Hi and welcome to the board

Your question is too vague to be answered.

Here is what info you should give to get help:

1- Year, model, make of car, A4 or M6? Gear ratio in Dif.
2- List all your current mods.
3- What do you wish to use the car for? Street, street/strip, pure strip. (be very realistic)
4- Budget $$ and power to the wheels desired.

Once we have that info, poeple can then throw some suggestions at you.

Well, this just just for future. First i'm going to do headers, but yeah, i'm just trying to get a cam you guys think is right. So i can research it, ya know?

Its a M6 with stock gears. I bought it with a magnaflow muffler, no cat, magnaflow tips, an a macs y-pipe.

Car will be mainly street, but here will be occasional trips to the track (nearest track is a nice little drive away)

I want about 350-375 to the wheels.

TR224 cam with your mods, some headers and a ported throttle body ($70!), should get you dead on with your goal of 375 to the wheels or maybe even a little more! What year is your car?

Nice #'s, I should get that cam if I don't bolt on a blower. You can never go wrong, I think, getting a 224/224 or 228/228 with .581/.581 to .588/.588 on a N/A applications. Not to start this again, but without heads, I am still with the cam king on this one and going with a Reverse Tourquer. My fav's are the TR230/224 and the MTI X1

Your mileage really won't change much with a cam, I still see 26mpg in my heads/cam car and many others get better mileage than that. The X1 cam is a proven performer that provides great useable power, sound and driveability.

My 228/232 112+4 is giving me ~32mpg in my M6 C5....it should be at least 30 in a M6 Fbody.

Yes Comp seams to be everybody's favorite on this website. I would call up some of the cam companies and then decide who you like best. Maybe get a recommendation from each company and post it here and see who has had the best results with something similar.

if i were you, i would read the cam guide. u will find it in this section (external engine) of the forum. jrp did a very good write up on cams. it will be most worth your time before you decide on a cam without knowing the first thing about them.
