For ignorant guys like myself, could you explain what the data means, what it should be, etc?

Sorry, thats the cylinder wall thickness. One cylinder is .100 in one spot! If I was to bore that cylinder .060 over, that only gives me .070 of cylinder wall left(half of .060 is .030). Not a good thing if you run high CR, nitrous or boost. I'll post my similar results of my brand new 6.0 GM block soon (2nd block I had tested). I had these blocks tested since I already purchased .060 pistons. Looks like I will have to sell the pistons (if I can),

That is a useable block for your .060 over bore. What you would need to do is offset bore the cylinders that are short to one side. You should have enough material to be good. Minne was actually short on both pin sides on two cylinders, so I swapped blocks, and am going to drop this one off today to get sonic tested. Rule of thumb is that you want a minmum of 100 thousandths cylinder wall thickness to be safe. I say 90 is fine for a N/A application. I may squeeze a 100 shot down the line so I am trying to get as close to or over 100 on every cylinder. The last block I checked would have been in the 80's on two cylinders which doesn't cut it. GM designed the blocks to be thicker on the thrust or loaded sides, hence the 200-300+ readings on those sides. I would post my sheet for comparison, but I don't have a web picture host.

Hmmm... now you have me thinking about using one of the blocks I have. I was planning on running 15lbs of boost so I didn't think either block would be a good choice at .060 over.

Edit: Trying to do the math on the cylinder 2nd row on the right where it's 100. How would you still retain .090-100 on that one? Even if you bore it off center, it still would be too thin.

You can email your sonic test to this address and I will post it:

Oh, and the .060 over bore means that you will take .030 from each side. If you offset bore particular cylinders to the thicker side you may come to the conclusion that it is ok. I spoke to a few people who are in the .080's with no problems yet on race engines. I have my pistons already, and am not going to order new ones. I will keep testing till I find the one I am looking for.

For 15 pounds of boost you might want to look into sleeving the block. At 90 bucks a pop for the sonic test it adds up quick. I hope my second block is thicker than the first. I will keep playing the odds until I get a good block.

Just bore it .035 over if it is close. You are talking about what 6 cubes difference? I would rather have the comfort of knowing I can spray the **** out of it if I wanted to

Yep, just decided to go with a smaller bore piston. Should of just did that from the beginning. Went with .010 over pistons. Just not worth it to risk a cylinder crack. Chris at Diamond Pistons gave me a break and I got a SWEET deal on new pistons. Now I just have to sell the others.

Here's my sonic test on my new 6.0 block I got from GM:
