I talked to Brent at TEA yesterday and he told me that they would be shipping my 5.3 stage 1.5 heads today. I have rounded up everything I need to install the heads with the exception of the head gaskets. I do not know which of the following two I should get:
For 97-01' style heads GMPN 12498543
For 02-03' style heads GMPN 12498544
I know that the heads are brand new but I do not know if they are considered the newer style or the older style? I would just call TEA but it is hard for me to get home from work before they close. Does anyone else with these heads remember which head gaskets they used?

All the 5.3L heads are of the "new" style variety. They [don't] have witness notches.
So, you can use either the GM graphite style or the 2002 multi-layer shim style.
If it were me, I would use the graphite style. They seal better.
Scoggin Dickey Parts Center sells this as > Head gasket set (graphite style), P/N 12498543, $34.95 for the set of two.
The head Gasket Set above includes: Gasket P/N 12558809 (Lft side) & Gasket P/N 12558810 (Rt side)
These graphite style head gaskets can be used on all year models.

They also sell the GM multi-layer style head gaskets as a set. These cannot be used on early style LS1 heads with witness notches.
Good choice on the TEA 5.3L / Stage 1.5 heads.....![Burnout](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_burnout.gif)

I am not sure what number I am, but I ordered my heads on 4/21. I called this morning and they told me that my heads would be shipped tomorrow 5/15. This is a few days latter than I was originally told but they said they had to wait on parts.
