New cam and stall with stock 2.73 gears
As the post says I have a 230/236 565/565 112 cam and a 4k converter. I also still have the stock 2.73 gears(I know I know) i am waiting on a 12 bolt and some exhaust stuff before i get it tuned I was just wondering if I would have had the same stall and cam installed with 3.73 gears would I have gotten less cam surge and bucking? I know right now my car is hurting under 2k feel like it only has half the wire on but get over 2.5/3k and you can hear it warm up and start pulling. I was just wondering if i would have gotten gears first if it would have changed anything??

I dont think it is your gears giving you cam surge. Gears will give more accelleration but the surge is from the tune, you are needing one because of the install of the cam and the stall. Both of those require a tune to get the best out of them.

yea i know it needs a tune for the cam and the stall for sure i just wondered if i had a 3.73 car if it would have been better worse or the same. since my rpms would be higher because of the steeper gear ratio you should get a little less low speed bucking...but maybe i am wrong

If the tuner knows what he is doing then he should be able to get rid of the bucking/surging
FWIW 2.73s aren't that bad. I ran 11.80s with the F13 and a small 3000 converter. Also GMMuscle is running low 10s with 2.73s
