Default Stuck studs

I am removing the ARP head studs from a motor, sone of the smaller 8mm studs are stuck. I used the Jegs stud removal tool, it is too big for the small studs though. I tried using vice grips, no go. They are not broached, that would be nice to have at this point. Any ideas?

If you can double nut the studs that should work. Then you can get a wrench on the bottom nut and turn it out like a regular bolt.

The answer!

Put 2 nuts on the stud and tighten them towards each other. Then unscrew the stud using the bottom nut.

If that doesn't work, then Snap-On makes an excellent stud remover (as long as you haven't buggered the threads). Its a two piece collet setup and you buy the collet for the thread size/pitch you are removing (the exposed part).

The double nut trick is good. I did get my Jegs tool to work, it helped to actually slow down and think!
