Talking what heads with MS4 and full bolt ons?

What are you big cam guys running as far as heads? In the market. Its not a daily driver. I'm reading all the polls and stuff but no one is real specific on their setup. Doesnt the lift on the cam have alot to do with what heads you put on? Looking for bear heads, TEXAS SPEED OWNES the rest!

To the best of my knowledge, you need to use an unmilled head using the stock sized valves. That is unless you are going to change pistons as well. I am not sure if flycutting would allow for a larger valve or not. The PTV clearance is very tight on the cam as it is. I ordered a set of the PRC stage 1 ls6 heads. They offer great flow numbers, though the valves leave something to be desired.....needless to say a set of manleys will be acquired for my set up. I know this info doesn't help a lot, but hopefully it will help narrow your search. Good luck,

Roy

I'm running the MS4 and Texas-Speed's LS6 heads right now. Unfortunately I have not had time to get a final tune and dyno so I'm not sure what I'm putting down right now. But they will definitely fit without having to worry about piston-to-valve clearance and have put down very good power for the money with the MS4. I've been seeing ~450rwhp from them with all of the bolt ons.

Running MS4 with PRC S1 heads with double springs. Both from TSP. I have a friend that went with behive springs on the same heads and are alot quiter. The double springs sound like a damn sewing maching at times.

Thanks for the info. Thats the same thing that I was thinking. Check this though... I called Texas Speed and asked if I can order the PRC stage 1 LS6 heads, BARE, without the lifters and springs ****, cause I ordered the MS4 cam package from them with all the upgraded valvetrain ****, and they told me they dont sell those heads bare and I would have to buy the complete set for $1150.00 ! I'm f*ucking pissed cause when I ordered that package over a year ago, TSP sold the bear heads. Anyone got any connections up there? But if I have to eat ****, I will. Thanks for the info. Ken

I hope your buddy enjoys changing springs once a month.

Also to note, I went with a slightly thicker head gasket for a tad more ptv clearence. I belive the stocker is .o48, I went with a .054. Shouldn't bring the compression down too much.

Also to note, I love texas speed, great sponsor with great products. I can't say no to my cam only car right now that made over 400rwhp on a mustang dyno. Probabably would be 430+ on a dynojet. But anyways, be careful when ordering the heads. As I said before, the port work is great and I am sure they flow the advertised numbers. But the valves suck, and they WON'T ship them with any springs if you slip up and already tell them you have springs for the heads. When I called about it they said they only come with the LS1 springs now(even though they were advertised with Ls2/Ls6 springs), and they don't bother putting them on. The do come with the valve seals on down assembled though. Not a big deal but something to say. Like I say I have always been satisfied with them other then that little thing.

Beehives on the MS4? Definitely NOT the way I would go... And the PRC double springs are very quiet when the rest of the valvetrain is setup properly. My MS4 and PRC doubles coupled with LS7 lifters sounds near stock as far as valvetrain noise goes.
