engine identification

can someone tell me what year this motor is approx. A guy told me 2001 with 4000 miles, and a friend said the heads were from an 97 or 98 ls1

I don't see a picture to identify, but if the heads have perimeter bolts(bolts around the outside edge of the valve cover, versus in the center) then it is a 97 or 98.

Also post any numbers on the block/head, this would be both casting and other numbers. Good information with the Question will get you a better answer.
