Default How to prevent detonation?

I have seen some posts that allude to detonation in the #7 cylinder. What should I do to prevent that?

Change your plugs, make sure your a/f table is right on just for a start.

If you are modding and replacing the injectors get a set that is flow matched (or at least documented) and put the highest flowing of the group in 7 and the next highest in 8.

I've been using an oil catch can and just changed to a pair of air/water separators from Home Depot. The can was collecting about a tablespoon every 3K miles but I was still using about 1.5 quarts in that amount of time. The motor must have been burning it because it wasn't in the catchcan. With less than 100 miles on the separators, I've already collected about a 1/3 a teaspoon in the first one and maybe 1/16 in the second one.

I'd been getting pinging and oil consumption since I did my stall. The car never used a drop of oil before it, so I figured I was experiencing ring flutter since the engine was loading different with the stall. Anyways, I was constantly running in a low octane table or something because my trap speed was always low.

So far, I've liked the seperator mod'. I haven't driven it too much, but I Seafoamed the car twice before installing them to clean out the top end. I ended up locating them just under the hood latch support bracket and ran 3/8" hardline from the PCV to them and then to the intake manifold.

Good luck.

I am building a 2000 LS1 for my 94 RX7. It will have TSP 2.5 5.3l heads, TR cam, LT headers, and LS6 intake.

I have seen posts on the benefits of changing to a LS6 valley cover. Is it true that oil is making the mixture get too lean in #7?

Just make sure youre not running too lean. Not so much a problem for n/a motors, but if a blown or nitrous motor goes lean, the number 7 or 8 cylinders are the likely ones to disintegrate first.
