new car......new cam? input please
new car......new cam? input please I just picked up a '98 C5 with "Stage II LS6 heads with 59cc welded chambers" and a G5x2 cam on a 114 lsa. I quoted the heads because I'm not completely sure what they are because the previous owner didn't seem to know exactly what was done to the car and I can't find a casting number on them. It seems that he just dropped the car off and told the shop to go to town. Here's the dyno: 
I'm not completely happy with the drivability of this cam because it surges below 1500 rpm pretty bad. The idle was up and down when I got it but a friend was able to tune it a bit so it does much better. We did a few runs to log some data and reviewed the tune and found it to be pretty good. Maybe this cam is a bit larger than what I'm looking for on the duration side. Its not a daily driver, but I think I'd be much happier with something that has a broader torque curve. Do you guys have any suggestions as to why the power comes on so late? Is this really the nature of the cam, or is something else wrong? It the high power band mostly due to the 114 lsa? Basically, I'm looking for any input that would help me move the torque peak down a bit but stay near this cam's peak power while improving drivability.
