340 RWHP 383 Stroker ?
Questions :
1) is it just the cam that would cause the 110 missing rwhp ?
2) what else could be a factor ?
3) has anyone heard of this happening out there anywhere ?
4) what cams are in other 383 lunati stroker kits that you know of ??
5) WOULD YOU BE PISSED IF YOUR BUILDER SAID " it will be a lot faster ! " , but you lost 60 rwhp ?
all help is appreciated !! ,, thanx bdawg & please help me get my car right !!!
Do the cam first! As I said and you know it
it is the obvious problem that you have! One step at a time!Good luck!
i was wondering if anyone anywhere has heard of anything like this ?
i am liking a 232 or 236 on a 112 with a big lift
hey ruff , did you get your new heads on yet ? im still waiting for that dyno !
Well, crap happens! But it is all good

pewter : , did you see lthl wepns dyno run & track run ? he just did a stroker with a cam like you "re talking about , but with less lift , 491 RWT and i think 414 rwhp , the clips are pretty cool !!

these are approx. my #"s they are from a guy who had stage 2 agostinos put on last year ( about the same time i did )
FYI frontier racing did the work , and a friend of his from lingenfelter recommended the cam ! , rip apart the bottom end ? god dont say that !
I would say a 236/238 .59x/.59x 112 lsa would give you the power that you desire, if you're still hurting for HP then I'd do a compression test, then if that didn't solve it I have to say pull the motor and find out what the problem is. .2" = 152.6

You should get your heads slapped on a flow bench to see if anything is wrong with them. I think 2.055 valves may be a bit small on a stroker motor. If those flow numbers you posted are correct, you could stand to pick up a lot of power from a set of LS6 heads, or milled 6.0L heads if the ls6 heads are too costly. Places like GTP, TEA, MTI, and others are getting 330 cfm or so out of ls6/6.0L heads on the intake side, and stout exhaust numbers as well.
I'd ditch the heads and cam IMO and I bet you could pick up a minimum of 80rwhp.

Bdawg, your cam is so undersized its not even funny. I wouldn't be surprised if you see 40-50rwhp if you step up do a serious cam. Yes, the cam alone can make that big of a difference.

verbs , where in town would you take your heads ?
the 222/114 i had made probably 60 rwhp more than this stroker. ( i never dynoed it , but sotp was alot stronger! )
ruff ss made his 450 with stage 2 agostinos ( after MTI changed his valves )
i am probably going to change the cam first , i might have the same problem ruff did with the valves , but i guess ill deal with one problem at a time , but while im changing the cam do you think i should go to a high volume oil pump ?
i would love to hear from PSJ or RAUGHAMMER !!!!

Since your car is a 98 I say why not add a better oil pump for safety. As far as where to take the heads, call 1st Performance. The owner Steve knows some good head porters. Also try Xtreme Motorsports and see what they have to say. The make some of the fastest Vettes in the country so they have to know a few good places in town. Their link is on the website as well. I'm not sure of their numbers off hand but it should be somewhere on AZFBA's website. They have banners you can click on for more info.
