Default Looking to go "Max Effort" cam only.

My car is currently pretty much a cam only setup, and i like the sound of that. The cam is a F11 on a 114lsa. the car is full bolt ons, with a y pipe and a cutout. It does have a good clutch and a Strange 12 bolt with 4.10's. The car has put down 395whp and 389tq on a mustang dyno, so the car is strong. But my buddy has a MS4 cam only with about the same bolt ons, and I just love how his car pulled on me! and he only had a mail order tune! The car is full weight, ac works and everything.

anyways, he is thinking of selling the cam for a stupid cheap price, how well do you think this cam will help me? or is there other cams that will make the power as well?

my supporting mods include:
ls6 ported oil pump
rollermaster double roller heat treated chain
comp oe lifters
futral pushrods
crane dual spring kit
arp head studs
racetronics fuel pump

thanks for the help
Charlie

That cam will be a nice compliment to your combo. The only thing you need to add are some better valve springs. I don't think the Cranes will work well with a .650" lift cam. Patriot Extreme duals or AFR 8019s will work very well with that cam.

You will need shorter pushrods than stock if you're running stock lifters and rockers. A 7.450" pushrod is what you'll need with that cam if running the factory lifters and rockers.

Do you have any track times with that F11 inyour car now? I was curious because I am thinking about running that same cam in my 99 FRC Vette with stock LS6 heads and bolt-ons. You made pretty impressive #s for a Mustang dyno as cam only. Just wondered how it runs at the track?

Be careful with the MS4.... just had a buddy who had one installed, got it tuned and it ran great for about 1500 miles, then he bent 3 exhaust valves while driving normally on the freeway. Make sure you check ptv!! Good luck!

What is his lsa on his ms4? What length pushrod did he use? How many miles on his engine? Stock heads? What is his rpm limiter set at? What rpm does he shift at when he's racing/WOT?

charlie quit being a puss and put the bottle on it

and lose some weight, mine is running quite a bit better now...enough to give you a run on motor

just dont forget all the fun new tunning you will need to do with a different cam. It runs good now and you should not mess with that aspect of it.

The terms "Max effort", and "cam only" are kinda contradictory arn't they...?

You shouldn't have any PTV issues when installed properly. Put a set of the PRC Platinum springs on while doing the cam install and you should be ready to go!

If your "cam only" then you are a stock bottom end????

Were you talking about a built "stock cube" motor?? I wasn't sure if I missed something here.

He got it on a 111 LSA. He has stock 7.4" pushrods. Stock heads, never been off the motor (until now, lol) Limiter was set at 7000, shifting around there. He wasn't racing when it happened... he was cruising along ~2500rpms, heard a goofy noise, and motor stopped. I'm not bashing the cam at all, he made like 425rwhp cam only, and it pulled like a damned freight train (especially in a heavy assed GTO), i'm just saying be careful.
