oil pump problem
oil pump problem i just got a new ls6 oil pump from thunder racing along with my new cam and springs, the box was a little messed up but i was not to worried about it but than when i got it open the box the oil pump was in was real messed up so i took the pump out and the cover had surface rust on it and so did the smaller gear inside the pump when i took the cover off the back of the cover also had surface rust. i do not think the pump is damaged but i dont know wether to use it or send it back let me know what you think
i would put some oil on it and try to rub off most of the rust if you can... i had the same thing on one of my installs, and 10k miles later the pump is still good...

i forgot to say that i did send the first one back, and the second came with less rust than the first.... so i dont know. its bullshit thats for sure.

i got it from thunder racing as the ported and shimed ls6 oil pump i think i will put some oil on it and take a fine meatel brush to it and if it does not come off realy easly i am going to send it back but the problem is the engine is on a dead line and i need to finish. i am going to call thow and ask if it is normal for thunder to send out rusty parts. it does **** me off but it sounds like it might be a frequent problem witch realy makes me mad.

well I JUST got a ls6 pump and it had rust on the inside "ring" , just surface rust but rust is rust to me
does anyone know if the melling or other oil pumps HAVE rust? i'm about to send this one back and get a refund and order one of those even though it is pricier
