4.01 or 4.03 I am ready to build a lq9 motor my machinist wants to go .03 over but I was told that going 4.01 is ok. The reason he want to go 30 over is to square the boars up but I can getr the 10 over pistons off the shelf.

Unless the block has damaged cylinders 10 should give you a nice round straight bore. We can get one straight with a torque plate with .003 if the block is low miles.

Weber Racing only went to 4.005 on mine to get the bores round. You might also consider getting the block decked, and line honed while your at it. The flatness of the deck surface from GM is terrible.

So theres somthing left for future rebuilds. That extra .020 isnt going to make any real differance in power, maybe 1-2hp. If you ever have a issue down the road you'll be glad you went with 4.010 bore, because you can reuse the block.

that is one of the big reasons why I only want to go to 10 is because the possability of a misshap
