Default She Blew!!!!

well i just finished my Prc ls6 stage 1 heads and MS4 Cam install and finally started it all up and went for a drive in the car to test her out. I start it up let it idle out for a little bit and drive it to the gas station. I am sitting at a traffic light and it is back firing from oil. I drive the car and get almost the gas station and smoke is pooring out of my hood. There is coolent rushing out the back of the motor somewhere. What the hell could this be from. I am thinking that i might have blown the coolant plug off the back of the head. i am sure that is where this would have come from. Any Help Would be apprecitated thanks!

lol that is always possible but i do not know i dont think the car would have run to get it home with a cracked block if so i am **** out of luck then

Did you put your coolant plug in the new head on the passenger side???

Yes i made sure that was put in the only thing i think was that the coolant plug on the rear of the passanger side by the intake manifold blown off

Did you clean the bolt holes thoroughly before installing the new heads?

Its seems to me like you would have heard it if you cracked the block torquing down the new head bolts though.

Could easily be on of the plugs on the rear of the heads. I left off the front coolant crossover on mine one time and only noticed it when filling the radiator.

i cleaned the bolt holes to the best that i could and there was probally some collant left in the bolt holes, i tryed to vacuum out them the best that i could what would this do if they didn't get as clean as possible i hope they were as clean as possible.

Well...the reason I ask is that water won't compress and torquing a head bolt into a hole filled, or even partially filled with water can crack an aluminum block.

Its unlikely that is the cause, like I said before, chances are you would have heard it crack.

Check all of the coolant plugs , I'm sure you'll find your culprit there....or maybe you just didn't get all the old material off the surfaces and have a leaking gasket. Could be lots of things.

well the motor only ran for a little bit but if the block is cracked would that have been a loud as boom, when i pull the heads the back off, i should see if there is a crack in the block right at the bolt holes right, what if the block is cracked then i am going to be pissed off like a mother ******. I dont think that i got all that crap out of the bolt holes so i will actually go back in and clean the **** out of them too. What if those heads bolt do not come out of there?

No I vacuumed them out with a shop vac, i thought that i got everything out from there but i am guessing not.

Ah ****, then you might have a big problem. I used a shop vac first and then I used the paper towels, there was a bunch of **** in there. www.ls1howto.com Then you grind part of the threads off of an old bolt to get the trash out.

yea i used the ls1howto.com website and it help i guess it just didn't seem that important as it was on there website to get those bolt holes clean as hell

98camarod do you honestly think that my block is cracked, and when i tear this motor back down where will the cracks be so i can see them. What will i have to do, my guess is have the car towed to texas-speed and performance so they can rebuild me a motor or have me a 408 put in the car

I'd take the manifold off and check to see if it's leaking from the coolant plugs first. I'd assume that there would be a crack right by where the bolt hole is.
