I have 22k on my motor. I want to run a nasty h/c combo (trex not sure on heads yet) and I have an 01 SS which is suppose to have the ls6 oil pump stock. Should I even bother changing my stock oil pump? Should I take it out and port it and shim it???

i would to me a "nasty h/c" combo sould like higher rpms so like every one said. go with the melling

TSP LS6 Ported oil pump oil always above 45psi.

even at idle? What's your idle oil pressure? I just installed one in my H/C car and i get 36-38 warm and over 60 at 3500 RPM (still breaking her in, so i don't know about higher RPM pressures yet).

So is their MORE volume and pressure on a PORTED LS6 pump over a standard LS6 pump? If so how much more pressure at idle and at 6k rpms???

I don't remember what motor mine is suppose to be for. LS4, LQ4, something with a 4. Too many damn numbers and letters to remember them all. It workls great, except when the oil is cold, I have to watch my rpm. Once I go over 2500 rpm, my pressure goes above 80psi. I have been watching it lately since the weather has got cooler, and seen it hitting 85 psi today. Once the oil gets up to normal temp, then at 2000 rpm, I am making about 60 psi, and about 40 psi at idle. The good thing about the pump is it's inexpensive.
