Can a cam "slip" out of position
) last sunday, ran fine. Drove it hard in the canyons the next day for 1.5 hours. Ran fine throughout.Next ran car thursday night, engine had trouble idling, running like it had a big cam in there (the actual cam in there is a 224/228 114). When you pushed on the gas, it bogged. About 1 mile down the road, CEL came on.
Checked for leaks, there seem to be none. Manifold is a FAST and all the bolts are troqued down and the seals are good. Took the car to a shop today, there is only 1 code:
P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Performance ECM DTC P0106 in Engine Controls - 6.0L
The guy running the code builds hotrods. He says manifold vacuum is weak and agreed with me there were no leaks. He thinks the cam may have slipped out of alignment and could cause serious engine damage if I continue to drive it.
Is this possible and if so how can it happen?
The MAP sensor visually looks OK and seems to be functional. I am pretty sure the tuner did not use an adjustable cam sprocket.
If not, what might the problem be? Any ideas?
Do you breaks feel spongy? manifold vacume leak will make the breaks feel soft.

Do you have cranking compression data from when you got the car? If so you could check the old data vs. now and get an idea if the valve events have changed.
