I got my oil pressure problems figured out thanks for all the input. The lifters were just dry as hell and just took about 15-30 minutes to get them re-primed. The truck sounds really strong. I can't wait to take it on a test drive.
99ssls1- i sent you a pm.

I have talked to 1999ssls1 on the phone and corresponded with him several times about this issue. This morning, he answered a PM that I had sent him yesterday and said that he changed the oil pump again to a Melling pump and now he has good oil pressure. Maybe he'll chime in again himself and fill in some details.

My guess is more that he finally got a good seal on the oil pickup tube. We'll see what 1999ssls1 has to say.

Alright guys here is the conclusion. I tried 4 different oil pumps. 2 being your standard ls6, 1 ported ls6, and the last a Melling. The 3 ls6 pumps would not work on the engine, but the melling did and is what is in the car now. Im not blaming it on the pumps being bad. It could just be luck, but you may find out what Im fixing to tell you interesting. I tried all of those same pumps on another engine I built over the weekend and it was the same conclusion except for I also tried tried the stock one of that exact engine and it worked. By the way 2 of the ls6 oil pumps are new and 1 has about 500 miles on it.

Guys,
Just re-read and study this thread. It has most of the information that you'll need to understand how the oiling system works. There is no silver bullet in troubleshooting other than a knowledge of the system and thinking it through methodically.
