Calling advise from AUSTRALIA! LS1 Cam Choice
#43
ok,its like de va ju as far as castle shop goes.
i warned him for anything under 398ci stick with holdens,(by the time it costs him for the conversion he could have had a 900+bhp tt steetable 304 for that kind of money.now he ain't allowed to turbo or supercharge on the lighter body.none the less reminded him of the awsome potential going to 427 =440 ci with the lsx agendas+ the more easily obtainable tuner tools to mapp things up,i guess each option has pros and conns.conversely
in situations like yours were you performed the conversion, then indeed
its better with the ls1,as opposed to rebuilding a stout 355
and going through all sorts of bother mating it a six speed box and tuning it there after.
the problem is alot of people think thats its cheaper to drive in drive out with a ls1 conversion (assuming it is easy as fitting a small block ford in a datsun 1600!)as opposed to a blueprinted 355 holden engine that basically make the same power if roller cam,10-1 comp + reasonable intake were used, heck there were streetable holdens with ht-hq heads running into the 10s(no gas).did you check the new crossover quad efi manifolds at ebay oz?
3,100au start price ,im sure for trade he can do a better deal,
kits available for fords ,holdens +chevs,if you see them you will want one.
he is based at narellan nsw.
