i just pulled both heads and its not the lifters they are fine... im puttin it back together and filing an insurance claim on it. assuming its not the cam dowel. i will pull the timing cover and see. but i doubt its the dowel. i will compare it to my stock cam real quick and verify.

Hate to tell you this, but it looks like you have a rod bearing problem with the piston on the right. Bearing gets worn, allows some clearance between the journal and the bearing and on the exhaust stroke the piston rod assembly will be flung up towards the head allowing it to touch, which is what looks like is happening in that pic of the pistons... In addition to the obvious p/v contact. FYI, if the cam gear did fall off at engine speed, you would p/v interference as the valves stopped moving and the pistons did not.

Well they are just press fitted in there. It probably is just one of those freak deals & you were on the recieving end. I haven't heard of anyone else with the Trex having this issue, so I'd doubt it's a defect. I'd put my money on bad luck man.

And yes, you need the dowl pin. But I dont hink you're listening to everyone. Dont bother putting the motor back together, you'll be pissing in the wind. Pull it, salvage what you can, and throw the rest away. Use it as a learning experience and an excuse to go big cubes like everyon esle
