More Performances valve spring tool
Ktech Oil pump (with two o-rings) just incase

Definitely buy a few extra keepers, maybe a retainer or too also. (I lost about 3 keepers and 1 retainer.....)

locktite for the cam retainer and cam bolts...

I personally would not use the cam lube, just cover the cam in motor oil after cleaning it thoroughly with brake cleaner...

Take your time and have fun! It will turn out fine as long as you torque everything in carefully, and take your time!

Good luck!

Tommy

Yeah, ditch the lube and coat it good with motor oil right before you slide it in. I've heard the lube can clog the lifters. I think Tommy pretty much covered it. Be patient on the oil pump pick-up tube bolt. Be sure to stuff a few shop rags down in the pan so if you drop the bolt it won't roll down into the bottom of the pan, or you will . Make sure you take them out when your done though.

Good luck!

I placed a towel over the headers to catch keepers that dropped. Also keep a pen magnet handy while working with keepers. Them keepers are evil.

One time I was searching for one for over an hour. It was inside the retainer. Definitly brain fade. Searchin for keepers will drive you mad but once they are found all is forgiven.

You will also need the air fittings to go in the spark plug holes. I've heard some of these cams are hollow and you need to clean the metal shavings from manufacture out of there to keep them from winding up in your engine. Also, you want to be as gentle as possible with that More tool, and don't twist it on a bad angle. This is one tool that probably should have been made out of steel. Oh and nice choice on the cam, that's the one I'm getting.

Yeah the shop has all the tools that I will need including the compression test tube to screw in the spark plug hole. Thanks for the warning about the tool... I am borrowing it from a freind that would not be good to break too much $$$$$ I will be sure to clean the cam REALLY WELL... just so you know.... the TR cam is not hollow Good luck on getting yours

just lube up cam with a good coat of motor oil, be sure not to "bind" the cam bearings by sliding the cam sideways in the first bearing.

Cal, you've been searching for a cam as long as I've been viewing this forum! You gave me some great advice about a month ago (I had ASA fever back then). I bought a C1! No low lift for us...

Sorry for the hijack and good luck on the install (for all)

Yeah I know, it's been too long searching for a cam, but I've finally got it now. I had to wait until I had the bucks on hand, and in that time I changed my mind about five times on which cam I was going with. For a while I had a line on a used C1, but that fell through so I jumped on the Thunder Group purchase instead. At one time I was going to get a low lift, long duration cam to save on springs, but I decided it was a waste of a roller valve train and got the TR224; so I guess I'll be changing springs like everyone else; oh well, better idle, more power.
