So, would 4.10's work good with the TR230 and a 4000 stall in an A4? or would 3.73's be a better choice. What about using nitrous with 4.10's and a 7200 RPM limit?

7200RPM is HIGH ![EEK !!](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_eek2.gif)
I think I spin mine to 6700 and shift at 6300. If I remember correctly, when I bought it, Thunder recommnded 4.10's and a 4600-4800 stall for maximum performance. I don't recall what they recommended to spin to though, but I don't think it was 7200!

I think it can be shifted at 7K IMO and I do have a built bottom end. I was more curious at what RPM with 4.10's on 26" tires would I cross the traps at?

For an auto set-up with the TR230/224 we would recommend at least 3.73s with at least a 4400 converter, and shifting about 6800-6900 rpms. Also the gear ratio will depend on your tire size as well. The taller the tire the more gear you should run. Hope this helps...

I have the TR230 with stock gear and converter. I have the idle set at 650 with no problems and I have the shift points set at 7000RPM and it pulls all the way up to 7000RPM without a problem. I recommend this cam to anybody that wants alot of upper RPM power with a little loss of bottom end.

It depends on the converter. I've heard that some of the newer Yanks with high stalls 3800+ are more streetable than some of the older ones with a lower stall. Personally, My 2800 stall is nothing, WAY too small. IMHO, You can't tell it's there.

Alot of local guys have this cam with an M6. It's a bit easier IMHO since you don't have to deal with the torque converter. I've heard of a few installing it withough tuning and their cars run fine!! I would still recommend tuning though.

Paul, thanks for chiming in! What would you recomend as far as gears go for a 4000 stall and the TR230 on 26" ET streets? I'm thinking 3.73's would be a good choice for both street and strip...

A buddie of mine put this cam in his 2000 SS w/M6. Car has Hooker LT's, LS6 intake, custom y-pipe, 12 bolt w/410's. Dynoed with stock SS 10 spokes. No short belt or other dyno tricks. 393 rwhp. I'm seriously looking at changing my cam and getting a 230/224.

Why wouldn't you rev that high? Even my TR224 cam pulled hard to 6800 RPM. I built this engine to rev, I haven't even started it yet, so it's hard to say where I'll rev it to untill I get it on the dyno. 3.73's might be the ticket then, 4.10's might be a bit much for the street, but who knows...
