Default someone please diagnose this sound for me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF2lMTFCpEU

i am seriously so lost.

first thought it had to do with clutch. replaced EVERYTHING all brand new from block to trans.

that wasnt it.

thought maybe bent pushrod/broken valvespring/ broken rocker.

pulled both valve covers, springs are fine, rockers are fine. pulled pushrods, rolled them all over glass. none are bent. everything is fine.

we CANNOT figure out what this noise is, and its driving me crazy.

did i blow it up? haha.

someone please diagnose for me. thank you.

holy hell that sounds brutal... it also doesn't sound very consistent... I'm interested to see what others have to say because when the noise is there it aint pretty, but other than that it's fine. No cam in the car? Well, other than stock.

well i thought it sounds like a collapsed lifter or a loose rocker arm, then in your vid the low oil light is on and you are only makin 20lbs oil pressure at adle and at 2 grand only 35. my LS1 usually puts out like 45 idle and 75 on the throttle. sounds like your gonna be pullin a motor to me

Maybe I should've watched the whole damn vid, didn't know about the low oil PSI

My pressure is like andrew's, on a melling pump (2000 car). Good luck man, don't know if it'll be pretty. When did it start?

i was afraid of that.

i changed the oil since then and if i remember right the oil pressure went up.

im not positive though.

so if i blew it up, what should i do for the rebuild.

my dad has built many motors, this will be my first.

Did you see anything on the oil drain plug? Shavings, etc. was the oil slightly metalic...y?

Tons of options in terms of replacements. Budget, power goals, main use of car are all contingent factors (they are for me, at least).

thats another thing. it never just STARTED making a noise. the clutch went in the fall of last year. it DID need a clutch, so i figured that noise was from the clutch. so like i said, it kinda started to do it when the clutch went. and EVERYTHING is brand new from spec. or gm replacement. as far as the clutch and hydraulics.

looks like im gonna have a big inch ls1 next spring. lol

no but when we pulled the valve covers my dad noticed something in the oil that could be metal shavings. i thought it was just some kind of dirt or something. the covers are still off, i can probably get a pic.

when u pulled the valve cover off did you re torque the rockers down? when i did my cam swap i went over all of them once and one came loose. trust me it dont sound good when it happens. they should be torqued to i believe 22 ft/lbs. definitly look at your oil too and check for shavings.

if i turn the car off, and turn it back on, it wont do it for like 30 seconds, then it starts to do it again.

you guys think it has something to do with a lifter?

next step is to pull the head i guess

yea that sounds like a knocking noise. MY car had a similiar sound and was a messed up lifter. Wont know the final verdict until I get the motor out (couple of more bolts)

I have just built my engine it sounds just like that everything is new lifters everything

I have a problem when we tightened the rocker it would stay up because the Pushrod are to long so I changed them from 7.400 to 7.200 now the problem is the car starts perfectly but all you can hear is the rockers chic chic chic.

Now what they told me was to replace the stock rocker with an aftermarket rocker or go for a cam that I can use Pushrod 7.400

Am really confused I don’t want to speed money with out solving the problem.

This is my engine spec
