I have spun the crank over a few times and i cant find the dot on the crank for the life of me, I know I have to put the dot at 12 o clock and then put the hole on the cam at 6 o clock, but i just cant find the dot on the crank, isnt it around where the timing chain goes on the crank?

Here's a pic from my website

The cam gear is in the foreground..you can see the dot easily on it....and on the smaller gear you can just barely see the dot there on the tooth of the gear......these dots are lined up "dot to dot" as you can see.
Does that help any?

I had the same problem at first I couldn't see the dot on the crank gear behind the oil pump...so all that I did was use a flash light to look for it. Also you should notice, if I remember correctly the dowel on the cam gear will be on the right side...
