Default ASA Cam vs. Thunder 224 Cam

Which do you think would make more power with all bolt-ons (heads/cam etc...)? Which would have a better powerband? Which would be better for street use? Which one would you pick? Thanks

TR 224 would be better in all of those areas, except in power they are probably close. The only advantage of of the ASA hot cam is it would be easier on springs, unless having a bigger lope would be an advantage to you. As for what I would pick, check my sig!

i have the ASA cam and it is a beast. it is super easy on springs, and makes good power. the thing with the ASA is that it is a WEIRD cam. lol. it sort of does what it wants, when it wants to do it. now, you talk about some lope. this cam sounds like a freakin big block from the old days. if you want a more streetable cam then GET THE 224. but if you want something extreme, and highly fun, hard to drive then get the ASA

Love my asa. People trip at the strip when they here my 02 lope like a old school cammed car. Hey da zman I gave up on the QTP headers. I am going with a 100 shot of N20 instead. hehe

The ASA is 226/236 .525/.525 110LSA
Great cam for extended spring life.

Is ASA the name of the company that sells the cam?

It has a little too much duration for my needs but I sure like the lower lift for longer spring life.

I know you need some good valve springs with the tr224, like 918s or what not. However, I've been told that the ls6 valvesprings will experience float with the asa hotcam. Is this true? I already have the 2002 ls6 valvesprings.. so when choosing between the asa cam and the tr224.. this is a concern for me. I'd like the drivability of the tr224, but if I have to put new springs on.. I'd rather just go with the asa Lope doesn't bother me that much.. I think its actually sorta cool.

Lope is one of the reasons I went with the ASA. I have the 918 springs and rev to 6500 with no problems. When I was testing the cam at the strip I took it all the way to 6700 with no problems but I dont plan on doing anymore. I think your lS6 springs will be fine as long as you are not trying to rev to insane levels.
