Default Oil question for the guru's...

I'm a firm Mobil 1 user in my '02 Z. I know the oil if prob good for more than 3K miles. But what about time wise? I had my oil changed in December and since then I've only put 1400 miles on the car. Timewise how long should I leave the oil in till it needs changed? Thanks as always.

I change mine every 3 thousand miles or 3 months. Which ever comes first.

This link should prove that 3000 miles is far too often:

How much oil? Go with 6 quarts and the longer oil filter (like the K&N HP2006)

I personally do mine every 3000 or 3 months with the K&N Filter mentioned above. The way I look at it, I did not spend all this money on the car + mods to take any chances with lacking on the maintenance end. Overkill? Perhaps... Peace of mind? Certainly

But if you read that link I posted, you'll see that going to 5 or 6k on your oil still doesn't result in more engine wear, so if you know that it's not going to make your engine wear out sooner, why wouldn't you want to take advantage of the fact that synthetics will last longer? America is stuck in this 3k/3month mindset, while the rest of the world goes considerably longer on their oil. When will North Americans realize how much oil is being wasted with this silly practice?
