Default TSP Torquer V2 on 5.3 heads ?

I sent Tex speed an e mail last week, havent heard back yet, i should probably just call them direct, but i figured i would ask you guys as well.

Im looking at the TSP torquer V2 cam but am unsure of whether or not it will clear with a 111 LSA on 5.3 heads.

I am also thinking of something a little bit smaller like a 228/232 600/600 on 111. not sure what to really go with.

A buddy of mine has the T2 on AS 5.3 heads, and we had to cut his pistons. He was using .043 gasket though.

I would reccomend the g5x1 cam with the 5.3 heads. you would end up with a good amount of power under the curve.

This cam will murder a Torquer V2 under the curve and peak.

thats what i was thinking ... and has less lift so less clearance and spring wear issues...

i think ill have texas speed or flowtech grind me one. probably texas so i can get their heads too.

Lift is not necessarily your enemy as far as piston to valve issues are concerned - duration IS.

Best thing to do no matter what is to get some expert advice from a company that deals with cams all day, every day such as ThunderRacing.

And then, once you get the cam, ALWAYS run a check for proper valve-piston clearance with your combo (heads, cam, gasket, PR's, lifters, rocker arms) by actually torquing down heads (couple bolts will do) with gaskets.

What works for one - may not work for all. So never just go on the word of someone that states they have used such & such a cam with no problems.

Course, that's just good advice, if you want to take a chance with your engine and not check...

axle,

i had a 228/232, .614/.600 on a 111+3 with the 5.3 stage 2.5, on a 62cc, and it cleared just fine.

yeah ive seen a lot of guys clear bigger lift and duration than what im going for on the same heads, and milled 59cc ls6 heads also. so i dont think it should be a problem. im sure that the shop i have do the install will do a check. Harris speed will probably do the install. i will probably be getting the cam and heads as a package from texas speed.

im more concerned with how it will run , i think it should be a strong runner all around. i wanted something like the 228R but just a little more aggressive. I still may go with a 288/288 600/600 112. those are my main prospects.

If i remember correctly the T2's lift is .598, .598 so actuall the torquer has a lower lift than that other cam.

The T2 is .232/.234 and .595/.598 lift. I have the T2 with TSP 5.3 heads and it's awesome! I've been happy as hell with it, it's neat to feel the power curve hit and it's still got good low end. I used a stock GM gasket btw.

where does the power really hit on yours ? id like it to be an animal from 3k up but dont want it to be a dog under 3k. hence my 228/232 idea.
