Hey,

I can go over setting the lash with you if you want to give me a call on Monday. If you have done everything correctly having a Hyd lifter that won't pump up is very possiable. Give me a call and we can go over it.

If you want it to be quiet, going solid roller, would certainly not be the thing to do. To get it to run quiet, go back to stock rockers, correct length pushrods, torque the rocker arms to 23ftlb and then it will be quiet.

i am not worried with it being quiet if its a solid roller, but its hydraulic, its supposed to be quiet, right?i have ran many soild rollers in 23 degree motors,i went through valves again and have 2 lifters that just wont pump up,oh well,i guess i should have went solid roller from the beginning

I have never adjusted the comp ls1 rockers, but if there adjustment procedure is anything like crane cams ls1 rockers, you will want 1 3/4-2 full turns from 0 lash, putting you in the preload range of .090-.110. call comp and have them fax you the rocker adjustment procedure, or pm me and i will get it for you.

Not sure what valve springs you are running, but with the larger ratio rockers and large over the nose valve spring pressures you may be exceeding the capability of the lifters. You may need a lifter capable of the higher loads like a set of Morels. There are a number of guys who have gone with high spring pressures only to trash the stock lifters, they aren't designed for these loads. Also, when I installed my Crane rockers with brand new lifters, I found I couldn't use the Crane/Vinci method for two reasons. First, the lifters were sticking in the lifter tray in the up position giving me false indications of zero lash. Second, the lifters were dry and the plunger spring was very soft. In the end, I used the old SBC method and did them one at a time. Took me four hours but they came out good.

I've been running Comp Pro Mags(1.85s) for years with Comp Rs set at zero lash. No noise at all. How do your lifters feel when you're setting the preload?
