Default Thinking about ordering 383 from TSP.

I have a set of 5.3 heads sitting in my room ready to be machined.

Should I get rid of the 5.3 heads for somethings else?

Also any have any advice on a good cam profile for the TSP 383 or any other experience?

I know their 402/408s are beasts but I don't think thats the road I wanna take.

why not look at their iron 370's- that is probably your best bang for the buck.

If you have some coin get the 402 or 408.

The 5.3s are stock for now.

The 402/408s are tempting. I know the 5.3s heads won't work on the 402/408.

Just trying to get an idea of what I want to do with my deployment money when I get back in 6 months.

If you want to keep the 5.3 heads, then go with a 383. The 383 could probably use a better set of heads, but you can get away with them for now, and be happy!

if I were you, I would sell the heads, and pony up to a 400+ cubed motor. The difference between a strong 346, and a budget headed 383 will not justify the money you will wind up spending.

I plan on building a 383 with Lunati goodies only because I can use my stock block The car is also a nitrous car, so it will pull like a 400+ cubed motor when it is done. I just do not have the funds for a larger motor at the time.

It will really come down to how much money you REALLY have to spend, and the ultimate goal of the vehicle.

What are you looking to do with a new motor? Drag, street, weekend warrior?

I want a badass street car. I keep watching that vid of mamo's silver vette with the 383.

I want my camaro to sound just like that. lol I also like the 383's name plate.

I want an aluminum block stroker because I'm also doing weight reduction mods like aftermarket k-member, torque arm, ect ect.

I preach this to everyone, but look at the 383 that jason from thunder built using TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads. Made like 490/490 or somewhere around there.
