Default new pistons question

ok so im plaining for my build now.ok i want to put new rods and pistons in. i want to keep it the same bore just forged pistons what do i have to do to do this? can i just change them if the side walls are good? or do i have to get it honed out some and what do i do then get a bigger sized pistons? or will piston rings take over for that?

Take it to a machine shop with the piston info from the manufacturer. The shop can measure the pistons, measure the bores and tell you if it needs to be honed to get the right clearance or if the bore is too big for the pistons.

I would just hone it to have a nice fresh block.

You will be able to make it a forged 347.

8a why would i buy pistons first because if the bore would be to big then i would have to get new pistons or another block or resleve the engine. i just want to know if i get stock bore pistons if the cylinder walls are ok would i have to get it honed?

You get it honed to 3.905 that only cleans it up by .005" which ain't ****. Then you get a 3.905 piston to fit it properly. The piston will come with new rings for it.

Make sure you take it to a good machine shop that does engines on a daily basis.

It's not always clear what someone is doing.
Whenever you put new pistons in you should hone it so the rings seat. Not even enough to enlarge the cylinder, just to break the glaze.
So I change my answer to ,,,take it to a shop and have the bores measured to see if the bores are good enough to work with a mild hone and stock size pistons or see if you need oversized pistons. Then order them. You should always have the pistons honed to the block so the bores are the exact size needed for proper piston to cly clearance.
