Exclamation Engine Compression (Odd Noise)

I'm in the middle of doing my heads/headers/rod bolts swap. I've bolted down the new heads and valve springs...the engine currently has no intake manifold NOR does it have the pushrods or rockers installed.

When i turn the crank pulley i get a hissing sound. Obviously this is air escaping...but SHOULD this be happening? I've never heard it do this before but this is the first time i've done this without the intake and rockers/pushrods installed.

Do i have a compression issue?!

Thanks for all your help!

Is the hissing sound like its coming from the crank case? Most likely its the cylinder pressure bleeding off by the rings and its normal.
