Dual Valvespring Question
Ok I just bought a set of AFR 8019 Dual Valve Springs rated at .650 lift. I plan on running either the older TSP 231/237 .595/.598 cam or either TSP's new 233/239 .595/.603 cam. My question is what else about my valvetrain will I need to replace when running with my stock heads?
Do I need new seats?
Do I need new retainers?
Do I need new locks?
Do I absolutely have to run new lifters? It says they are recommended but if I pull the heads just for lifters a will more than likely just put on a better set of heads.
Thanks for your help...
Josh

ok I think I have narrowed it down to getting seats and retainers. Does anyone happen to have the model numbers of each of them from AFR. I just emailed them but I figured maybe someone here would know...

Gunnar will your seats, seals, retainers and locks work on the AFR springs? Also, I just replaced seals not too long ago and would I absolutely have to replace the locks?

We can double check the spring specs, but what you have should be their version of our Patriot Gold spring. So yes, all the parts should work. The reason you would need to get the new locks is because we use only Super 7 machined locks, not the stock stamped ones. If you use our retainers, you will need to use our locks. We do not suggest re-using seals.

For future reference to everyone here are the corresponding part numbers for spring seats and retainers that match the AFR 8019's.
Valvesprings: AFR 8019
Valvespring Seats: AFR 8042
Valvespring Retainers: AFR 8512
I did valve seals on my heads not to long ago. I'm sure they would be fine staying there. Remember the 98 heads have the seal that is by itself and not attached to the seat or whatever is on the newer heads.
