Default Patriot head install

installing my new patriot stage 2s, thought id show some pics of my car tore down. Im Finding the Hardest part of this getting the old head gasket off, any one got any special potions or cocktails to get it off? This is about the 4-5 time ive been in my motor, all my mods were done 1 about every paycheck for the last year, lol But anyway its nice to be comfrotable taking my car apart and knowing exactly how to put it back together and not worrying about screwing it up or forgetting how to put it back together......Pratice makes perfect

You're so lucky having an area like that to work on your car. I always have to work at the end of our driveway, 1/2 way in the road.

Use a diegrinder and a 3m scotch brite wheel Thats what Ive used on every car Ive ever swapped the heads on. Works very well and very fast. You can pick one up at oriellys. It looks like this but mines red:

be careful with the scotchbrite pad on the deck surface never stay in one place, you will take material off. All the machine shops i work with have had a ton of service bullitens on this.

you can use a ice scraper for car windows. its plastic so it wont tear up the block, and the use a rag with the acetone on it to rub over the surface after you go over it with the ice scraper

The red one is to soft to take off aluminium. Ive used it on 10+ blocks, and a ton of heads. It want even scratch it. I could see what you mean if you had one of the rock solid ones.

The red ones too will take material off the deck, i have used them for years, and will continue to use them, just very carefully. If you stay in one spot too long or get too aggressive with it you will be sorry. I have seen cast block deck surfaces out by as much as .006 just using a disk.
