Default Well at least this not a "pick me a cam" post...

This has to be the first post about a rubber band getting into the engine....so here it goes.
I have a Metco breather that has always let some oil into the filter and drip on my headers....so I got idea that I could simply rubber band some panty hose to let it breath and keep the oil back some...which worked. Well tonite I wanted to check it out to see if everything was intact. Well, the damn rubber band found its way into the valve cover oil....
I found a couple small pieces right at the fill neck...the band was a about an inch in diameter and very thin. Pretty small.
I did hear a faint tap on the pass side.....which is why I checked the breather out.
Oh where did the flippin rubber band go? How soon does the oil see the filter after leaving the valve train. I am thinking the motor would basically disintegrate it.....and end up in the filter.

I know at this point some of you may be LYFAO right now....but my intentions were good ....

I wouldn't worry. The worst it could do is clog your oil pump, but that seems unlikely.

Drive it hard and fast and get that oil temp up to 300. You'll be okay...probably..maybe...should be....watch the oil pressure for the next few hundred miles. Pray and no more of the madness.

The rubber band material should break down pretty quick in the crankcase environment of heat and oil.

The heat from the head is prolly what caused the rubber band to fail, did you remove your valve cover to see if you there was any rubber band remains in there?

I get the same thing from my metco valve cover breather especially at the track when at wot oil drips on the headers. I keeping forgetting to come up with a solution to stop that. hehe atleast I wont try the rubber band idea

Thanks all for the reassuring replies.....I am going to swap in a big cam this week and change the oil. The tie wrap is an excellent idea...
