Default Hotcam Owners inside ----->

I am really interested in getting the hotcam....for those of you running it... i really want to know what you think of it after having it for a period of time. Im sure ill love it in the beginning...but what do you guys think of it after having it for a while? Also if you had it installed where did you go and what did you pay?

Thanks for any info guys...i really appreciate it.

Aside from the G5X-2, I wouldn't swap it for any of the other popular cams. Not worth it for valvespring issues. . . even if there's no issues, you still have to swap them alot more often than the 50k+ miles I do w/ my hotcam springs.

My car went 12.15@117mph w/ a soft 1.90 60ft on stock rear w/ 4.10's.

The car weighed 3485lb's, stock 16" wheels all around, all the seats in place, stock throttle body, and 1754' DA.

With 15" skinnies & 15" wheels in back, remove the seats, ported TB, and run in awesome weather, there's no reason I wouldn't run 121+mph, right up there w/ the popular big lift cams (like I said, excluding the G5X-2!).

If I had to do it over. . . I'd consider the Compcams 216/220 .525"/.532" w/ 114LSA or the 218/224 .528/532" 114 LSA. You get the benefits of the long spring life, and a nice idle, and it'd run strong. I think the idle & associated bucking is the only thing about the Hotcam that bugs me. It's cool ~70% of the time, cruising around, etc. But once you're in traffic or trying to go slow somewhere, it gets annoying.

Forgot to mention. . . the car has never seen a dyno or been tuned.

Yeah, I really like my Hotcam also. I utterly enjoy its idle, but slow moving traffic with a 6 speed is a bit annoying sometimes.

The biggest selling point for me was the spring issue. Plus, you don't have to rev your engine to its limits to get power from this cam, it has great midrange power. Plus the price is great..
