Default Is my cam to big?!?

I just got my cam today from thunder. Its a 230/236 on a 111+2. Is this to big for a cam only car?? Local people are telling me thats a cam that I would probaly want to use with a h/c combo.. My mods are in the sig. Thanks for the help!

I didnt really think it was and the people at thunder told me that it would be fine. When it got here I showed it to some friends and they were all telling me it was huge, etc. They may just be jealous now.. lol

Big, but not TOO big. Would not have been my first choice for an A4 (not that I have an A4), but should work out OK.

I generally say a cam that big is worthless without poreted heads as you are giving up a lot of power, but it should run fine.

And you'd be wrong, very wrong.

OP, that cam is a good mid-sized cam and should perform well with your gears/verter setup.

nope, with unported heads they flow good good enough to provide an additional 75+bhp gain with 220-230ish cams of the decent grinds.

I hope I do pretty good! lol.. It was spec'd to do what I asked it to pretty much.. I wanted a nice lopey sound with some good power to go with it. In around 6 mothhs I would like to get some TSP 2.5's to go with it so.. Predator gave me the sheets (Thunder grinded it) and I think he has a pretty good idea of what he is talking about.. atleast I hope! Thinks for all the hits guys.

predator says its good, plus Pat G specced it for me. Two cam Gurus gave you the thumbs up.Did not want to sell it,but you know the situation. Its a great mid size cam.Its all about power under the curve for its size.I have TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads, and the cam will work great with them if you decide to buy heads. Also it will do great with a 100 shot(something to think about).Hell in a month or two,if you still have not installed it I'll buy it back

My understanding is that was the original purpose for the TRex (cam only) since it often has PTV issues with the larger valved stage 1.5+ heads.

I agree though that cam should be fine cam only, just get a good tune at a nice stall! CamsCam02 is close to 10's on a MS4 cam-only setup (IIRC)!
