Default Anyone heard of "ARE" heads?

There is a thread in the Parts For Sale forum with a guy selling "ARE stage II" heads and a 224/224 112 cam package. He said the setup was put on a long time ago.

I've searched here and google for "ARE" heads and haven't found anything. Any insight guys? He said the setup made 420 whp.

Thanks in advance.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong but, Augostino Racing Engines (ARE) had the first LS1 based car in the 8's. Haven't heard much about them lately but they definately were flying then. Been a few years back.

I have 241 ARE heads. they are now aprt of a different company. they split back in like 2000 but were the first to port LS1 heads. Have fun finding any info on them, I searched for days and found nothing.

Cool, i've also posted the question in the for sale thread, but he doesn't seem to get on here too often. He did say that Mikey at Rapid put the setup on, if that helps out at all. I was just curious to know if anyone knew off the top of their head.

I'm actually at work right now, so i didn't have much of a chance to check that out, i'll look harder later, but I didn't see where they mentioned "ARE" there. Either way, thanks very much for the info!

I saw a dyno of this setup im thinking about buying, but i'm wondering if I should just do a newer cam and head package than what he's selling.

well I dont have dyno numbers for my set up, i bent all my intake valves on start up (hmm whys that sound familiar) but as far as visually looking at them they looked like a decent 241 head. Im far far far from a head expert but they didnt have any rough or sharp edges from what I could see. I bought them as part of a longblock from speed inc for $2000

This whole setup will be going on my lq4 bottom end, so i'm *hoping* to achieve 10.5 or higher compression with these heads, and also have enough piston to valve clearance. I'm just weary of dropping $900 on something i'm not perfectly sure of. The torque curve looks great on his dyno graph, and it did produce 421.15 hp.

I think i'm gonna try it if he goes for what I offered him.

Well, i'll be happy with anything over 400, and this whole setup is actually going into my 97 240sx, so i'll be damn close to 10's if I've got the right suspension setup, and I can drive haha.

They are Agostino heads. We have done work to some of heir heads before. Many of the older sets have SBC valves instead of 8mm LS valves.
